Gynecologist Calls for Longer Maternity Leave to Encourage Higher Birth Rate

A well-known consultant gynecologist is recommending an increase in maternity leave as part of efforts to encourage more women to have children in Dominica.

Dr. Curvin Ferreira has expressed concern about the country’s declining birth rate, noting that the trend has become a growing issue in recent years.

He believes that providing mothers with a longer period of maternity leave could serve as an incentive, while also giving women more time to recover and care for their newborns.
