Deputy Political Leader of the UWP argues that after over 2-decades of DLP governance, Dominica is now deemed a failed state, causing grave concern

Ronald Charles, Deputy Political Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP), has expressed apprehensions about Dominica's condition under the ruling DLP government, characterizing it as a failed state after 24 years in power. Charles drew attention to the disillusionment among the youth, highlighting that over 50% of them are unemployed, and many others are underemployed through the National Employment Program (NEP), with job opportunities seemingly dependent on affiliations with the DLP.

Charles contends that the agricultural sector, once a crucial driver of economic growth in rural communities, has been intentionally neglected, leading to its decline and categorization as a 'has been' economy.
