Energy Minister & Opposition Senator bump heads on guarantee to facilitate geothermal plant

Energy Minister Vince Henderson says Dominica has gone through several processes, and now stands at the belief that a $13.5M bank guarantee to construct the geothermal plant is the best that can be achieved at this time.

He has not ruled out that the deal is not without its own challenges, however notes that the nature of geothermal power requires that certain obligations and responsibilities are taken on.

Meanwhile, though Opposition Senator Delbert Paris acknowledges the efforts by government towards geothermal energy, he says it is very interesting that at this time of Dominica's development, with changing global economic climate, the government is asking the only indigenous bank to put on hold $13.5M as a guarantee for this project.
