PREVO CINEMALL Honours Famous Kalinago Artist

At the opening of the Grand Kalinago Week Expo at the PREVO CINEMALL on 17th

September, a famous Kalinago Artist Mr. Faustulus Frederick was awarded the PREVO

CINEMALL Cultural Heritage Award in recognition of his work in the Arts, History and

Cultural Preservation of the Kalinago People and of Dominica. Mr. Faustulus Frederick was

also Kalinago Chief from 1975 to 1978 when Dominica became independent.

In 2024 the PREVO CINEMALL’S Cultural Award was awarded to famous Dominican Artist

Earl Darius Ettiene and in 2025 to Artist Dr. Lennox Honyhurch.

The Kalinago Expo 26 was addressed by the Minister of the Environment, Rural

Modernization, Kalinago Upliftment and Constituency Empowerment Hon. Cozier Frederick who is also the son of Mr. Faustulus Frederick, as well as by Kalinago Chief Anette Sanford and General Manager of the PREVO CINEMALL Vanessa Prevost.

The award was presented by Mr. Norris Prevost chairman of the PREVO CINEMALL and

Minister of Tourism of Dominica from 1995 to January 2000.

The Kalinago Week Expo continues today Friday 18th September at the Prevo Cinemall with

a cultural display of Kalinago History as well as a wide range of Authentic Kalinago made

products on sale. Dominica’s are encourage to take advantage of this opportunity to learn

more about Dominica’s Kalinago History as well as to buy authentic Kalinago made arts &

crafts.
