Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced at the CARICOM summit's closing news conference that citizens of Caricom member states would soon have unrestricted travel within the region. Mottley revealed that by the end of March, nationals from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) would be able to move freely across member states. She emphasized that leaders, in the July 2023 summit, had set a deadline for enabling free intra-regional movement, and progress is on track. The leaders are scheduled to meet again on March 15th to finalize any remaining policy issues. While currently governed by the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) with a 6-month duration limit, the leaders aim to nullify the restriction and facilitate unrestricted movement throughout the region.
